Dear student
1 INTRODUCTION
This tutorial letter contains the suggested solutions to the questions of Assessment 03/01/2024, as well as
the related marking rubric. It is in your own best interest to work through the suggested solutions in
conjunction with the assessment questions and your own answers.
Take note that √ indicates 1 mark and ^ (if applicable) indicates ½ a mark. If “R/W” is indicated after a mark,
the amount (including % or any applicable sign(s)) is either right or wrong – no principle marks apply. If “P”
is indicated after a mark, it is a “principle” mark i.e., the mark is awarded for correctly carrying an amount
forward from a previous calculation and/or correctly applying the tested principle(s) even though the amount
might be incorrect. The basis for allocating each “P” mark is indicated where appropriate.
The marks earned for your assessments carry the following weights in the calculation of your final mark:
Assignment number Weighting
Assessment 01 15%
Assessment 02 15%
Assessment 03 20%
Assessment 04 15%
Assessment 05 35%
Final mark 100%
