Below, I am going to focus on recycling glass but you can choose any other
recyclable material - plastic, paper, metals, etc and find a recycling drop- off
point for that material. Following on from the recycling preparation activity,
please use the 'Find a Glass Bank' tab on following link to locate the nearest
or most convenient recycling glass bank to where you live. Once you have
located a recycling glass bank please note its location (using GPS co-
ordinates, street names and suburb or even by attaching a map) and how far
(in time or in distance) it is from where you reside in Assignment 5. You can
also note if you experienced any difficulties in locating a recycling drop-off
point that you could use. Remember, we're not interested in where you live
but rather where the nearest or most convenient recycling drop-off point is
located to you. Also we know that there are several companies which offer
recycling drop-off points (e.g. some Total & Engen garages in Johannesburg).
You are more than welcome to use any recycling drop-off point and if you live
outside of South Africa, you will need to search the internet for your closest
recycling drop- off point. At this point, I would just like to remind you that you
need to make sure that you have located a drop-off point for recycling and not
a general point for rubbish collection that doesn't count! I would also like you
to address the following in your initial blog post for Assignment 5: How will the
knowledge of the closest recycling drop-off point change your recycling
habits? Will you increase the amount of recycling you do, why or why not?
Please comment on the recycling drop-off sites of at least one of your peers
with respect to commonalities and differences between your and their
recycling drop-off sites. If you cannot find a recycling drop-off point consider
what other alternatives may be available to you such as reusing or
composting. Please use the 'Assessment 5' forum to create your own blog
(once on the Assessment 5 forum, click on 'Add a new discussion topic'). This
will be your initial post to start the blog/discussion series in which you describe
the location of your nearest or most convenient recycling drop-off point. You
can use GPS co-ordinates, street names and suburb (e.g. the corner of
Christiaan De Wet Avenue and John Voster Road; Glen Dayson Agricultural
Holdings) or even insert a map as an attachment (just use your 'student
number_map 1' when naming the file). Also make sure to mention how far the
recycling drop-off point is from where you live and if any difficulties you may
