1. Describe your personal experiences with learning fractions as a student.
Discuss any challenges or difficulties you encountered when first
introduced to fractions. Explain how your understanding evolved over time.
(10)

As a student, my experiences with learning fractions were initially quite
challenging. I remember my first encounter with fractions in elementary
school, where the concept of dividing something into smaller parts seemed
abstract and confusing. The idea that a number could represent a part of a
whole rather than a whole number itself was difficult to grasp.

Challenges and Difficulties:

1. Abstract Concept: Understanding that fractions represented parts of
a whole was not immediately intuitive. It was hard to visualize how
fractions like 1/2 or 3/4 fit into the number system I was used to.

2. Operations with Fractions: Learning to add, subtract, multiply, and
divide fractions added another layer of complexity. The rules for
operations with fractions, such as finding a common denominator or
simplifying, were new and confusing.

3. Word Problems: Applying fractions to word problems and real-life
situations was particularly difficult. Translating a problem into a
mathematical equation involving fractions required a level of abstract
thinking that took time to develop.
