Section 24o of NEMA provides the factors that the competent authority
must consider when evaluating an application for environmental
authorisation. These factors include:
1. Any pollution, environmental impacts or environmental degradation
likely to be caused if the application is approved or refused.
2. Measures that could be taken to protect the environment from harm
as a result of the proposed activity.
3. Any feasible and reasonable alternatives to the proposed activity and
any feasible and reasonable modifications to the proposed activity
that may mitigate its impacts on the environment.
