1. Select Artists:
- Choose artists from both South Africa and internationally as listed (e.g.,
Dianne Victor, Keith Haring).
2. Research Process:
- Technique, Materials, Subject Matter:
- Find examples of their work (photocopies or digital representations).
- Describe the techniques (e.g., painting, sculpture), materials used (e.g.,
oil paint, charcoal), and subjects depicted (e.g., political themes, personal
identity).
- Cultural, Social, Political, Psychological Context:
- Investigate how each artist's work relates to cultural backgrounds,
social issues, political events, and psychological themes.
- Analyse how these contexts influence their artistic choices and the
messages conveyed in their art.
- Documentation:
- Paste representations of their work in your workbook.
- Write brief descriptions under each artwork covering technique,
materials, subject matter, and contextual analysis.
