Task 1
High angle shot of the Queen. The Queen is smaller, which her represents her vulnerability
as she is now taking advice from Tony Blair, when it is supposed to be the other way
around. It also proves how she is willing to take advice from Tony Blair if it means the
threat to the monarchy is decreased or goes away. Light is falling on the Queen. This
shows that God has ordained her. A 35mm film is used in this scene. This shows that even
though the Queen is vulnerable and in a low point in her life, the viewers never forget the
fact that she is a queen and that she is royalty as the footage with her is clearer than the
footage with Tony Blair. The 16 mm film used for scenes without the Queen is a less rich
gauge of film used more for television and other common media while 35 mm film used for
the scenes with the Queen is used for widescreen cinema and professional still
photography. Thus the 35mm film used in this still, shows that no matter how what she is
going through, she is still the queen and she is still powerful. Symbol of the telephone. The
Queen is an old version of the telephone which represents her old traditions and this
represents the threat to the monarchy as the people don’t want old, they want new
traditions. Presence of red colour in the still. Red represents royalty and Britain. She’s not
usually in the kitchen which shows she is out of place and it shows that she’s never been
in this situation- where she had to take advice from Tony Blair when it should have been
the other way around. The Queen is no longer in control in the kitchen.
