PPP Grammar lesson table

What is the target form? (F) Affirmative: Subject + was/were + present participle (verb + ing) + interrupted action.
Example: You were studying when she called OR I was studying when she called.
What are the negative and question forms? Negative: Subject + was not/were not + present participle (verb + ing)
Example: You were not studying when she called. OR You weren’t studying when she
called.
Question: Was/were + subject + present participle (verb + ing) (Inverting the subject and
was/were)

What is the function? (M) We use the past continuous to indicate that a longer action in the past was interrupted by
another action in the past. The interruption is usually a shorter action in the simple past.
Example: I was watching TV when she called.
