1. PROFESSIONAL DEMANDS
• Heavy workloads and too little time for educators to achieve the standards they envisage in
order to meet learners’ needs are well researched stressors.
• Problems relating to curriculum, large classes, lack of resources.
2. INTERPERSONAL RELATIONSHIPS
• Poor relationships and poor learner motivation impacts on educator stress.
• Learners with behavioural and learning difficulties create additional stress in the classroom.
• Parents subject teachers to undue pressure, failing to support educators.
3. ROLE BASED STRESS
• Educators are unclear about their responsibilities, expectations and work objectives.
• Educators have to fulfil the role of administrator, counsellor, manager, social workers.
4. CAREER DEVELOPMENT
• Inadequate training can lead to educator stress as well as continuous learning and
professional development many be stressful owing to the reality of time
constraints.
