Provide a well-structured and well-considered review of literature related to
your research problem. This question requires that you situate your research
problem within broader debates, while demonstrating that your work is original
and innovative. The following guidelines should help you in writing your
literature review:
i. Identify 12–15 sources that are relevant to the problem you identified in
Assignment 02. (These sources must have been published between 2015
and 2022. They should be scholarly articles/chapters/books or policies.
Avoid using textbooks.)
ii. Review the sources. (Provide a description, a summary and a critical
evaluation.) Note the following: \
• Focus on literature that is relevant to your research problem.
• Cite evidence to support any statement you make.
• Compare different arguments, theories and findings expressed in the
literature.
• Summarise and critique the literature; do not simply reproduce the work of
other authors verbatim.
• Be selective, that is, select the most important points that are relevant to
your research problems.
• You are welcome to use short quotes, but do so sparingly.
• Let us hear your voice. You could, for example, start and/or end paragraphs
with your own ideas and wording. This will demonstrate how your work
draws upon, departs from or builds on the literature.
• Ensure that the sources you use are recent and acknowledged properly.
• This assignment must be structured intelligently to help the reader
understand the arguments underpinning your study in relation to the
