Question:

Modernisation theory has led to a system of capitalism that is oppressive and exploitative
throughout the world. Critically discuss modernisation theory with respect to the South
African context, and examine how decolonial theory seeks to resolve some challenges
caused by modernisation theory.

Your essay should consist of 3-5 typed pages, excluding the cover page, table of contents
and list of references. Your essay must reflect the following:

An introduction in which you introduce the
