UNRESOLVED MURDER OF SENZO MEYIWA’S CASE THAT HIGHLIGHTS THE
INTRICACIES OF POLICE INVESTIGATION AND FORENSIC METHODS.
INTRODUCTION
The murder case of Senzo Meyiwa has remained intricate and unresolved, prompting
inquiries over the competence and professionalism of the South African Police Service
in managing the inquiry. From the initial occurrence in 2014 until the latest
apprehension of five individuals in 2020, there have been multiple unexpected
developments, accusations of manipulating evidence, and assertions of wrongful
arrests. This case has generated extensive public attention and apprehension on the
effectiveness of law enforcement in dealing with prominent criminal incidents.
This project will involve a thorough analysis of the police's conduct starting from the
initial phases of the inquiry up until the present day. We will evaluate the techniques
employed, the management of evidence, the collaboration among law enforcement
agencies, and the overall strategy for resolving the case. In this analysis, we will
evaluate whether the police shown the requisite expertise, professionalism, and
commitment in their efforts to achieve justice for Senzo Meyiwa. Additionally, we will
examine the influence of these measures on the public's confidence in the criminal
justice system and the consequences for future prominent investigations.
