Prospero = magic and control gets overthrown by Antonio and Alonso
from his dukedom. Gets sent to an island with daughter miranda. Controls
the island and does not end up abusing his enemies, instead he gets rid of
his magical powers and reconciles with his enemies. Master of Caliban
and Ariel.
Ariel= prospers servant, was rescued by prospero from Sycorax spell. He is
loyal and pulls tricks on prosperous enemies. Ariels
Caliban= doesn’t like prospero because when he first arrived he
educated caliban, son of Sycorax. Views prospero as a threat. bitter and
furious. Shows the theme slave and master.
Miranda= daughter of prospero, knows nothing of past. Compassionate
and caliban attempts to rape her. Falls inlove with Ferdinand, he is only
the third man she has met in her life. She is the opposite to her father
Antonio= Prospero’s brother. Overthrows Prospero and encourages
Sebastian to do the same to Alonso. He is power hungry. Cartharsis=
overwhelmed with feelings and grows
Gonzalo= Alonso’s advisor. He is kind and pittied the pair (Miranda and
Propsero) and arranged for them to have provisions for them to survive.
He is positive.
Ferdinand= Alonso’s son. Falls inlove with Miranda. Kind and dutiful. Love
for father is as sincere as his love for Miranda.
Sebastian= Alonso’s brother. Wants to become king by killing Alonso but
never expresses remorse for his plans.
Stephano= Alsonso’s butler. Comical and drunk. Caliban mistakes him as
a god. Fancies himself as a king. Caliban has a plan to kill Prospero so that
he take his place as King. Prospero and Ariel lay out a plan to trap him.

them to survive on the island
⁃ Ariel appears and we learn that he has been controlling the wreck
and that everyone is safe and dispersed in groups on island and is
promised freedom after some time

⁃ sends ariel as an invisible spy
⁃ caliban comes out of cave and is mad about island

⁃ song suggests that ferdinands father has died
