First Activity
a) A dictionary activity, for vocabulary and dictionary skills development AFTER the class have
read or listened to your selected text.
This could be used later in the same lesson or in another lesson. You can use the vocabulary items
you have selected for pre-teaching or make a different selection. The vocabulary must be from the
text or clearly relevant to the text.

• To raise students’ awareness of the information they can find in
a dictionary.
Aims • To encourage group collaboration in project work
• To promote creativity.
*Hand out dictionaries and one worksheet per group.
*Give students instructions for the activity.
*Give time frame for the activity
*Students must work in groups, the number in a group depends on the
number of students in your class, 3/4/5 per group.
Teacher’s Instructions *Give feedback.
*Drill definitions with students.
