Study unit 5 and Chapter 12 in your prescribed textbook provides a comprehensive review of
key features of an organisation’s corporate culture.
This assignment challenges you to use the course material and your own additional reading
on the topics in a holistic manner towards the analysis and case compilation that is required
by the assignment questions.
A consideration of culture and how that connects with the organisations ability to implement
strategy forms the essence of this assignment. Dealing with change is now, more than ever, a
daily task to be mastered by organisations. Leadership needs to carefully consider and pay
attention to organisational culture, if they are to successfully navigate the ever-changing
external market conditions towards the successful implementation of their strategy. Some
organisations do culture better than others, and it shows not only in their agility to respond
to changes but also in their bottom line.

Instructions for the assignment:

Choose any publicly known or publicly searchable organisation that you consider having a
favourable organisational culture. Compile a case on your selected organisation that
illustrates the following:

• The values that drive their culture
• Details pertaining to how they implement different aspects that make up organisational
culture (from hiring to induction to daily buy-in, motivation and growth)
• The nature of the leadership that sustains the culture
• How do the above elements of leadership and culture aid in the implementation
of their strategy?

Your response to the assignment question will be awarded a mark out of a 100 based on:

• Your ability to build a solid argument towards a case for the influence of leadership
and culture on the successful implementation or strategy (intended and emergent).
• Your ability to sustain your arguments with theory and literature.
• The flow and ease of following your argument.
• Showing in your argument how other organisations can benefit from this type of
leadership and culture.
Your case should not exceed 10 pages (excluding references), 12 size, any readable font.
