Sterrekyker
Franci Greyling

, IN A NUTSHELL
• This poem is abstract and uses imagery of a girl wiring letters and
shooting it into the sky. She does not literally do it; it is just the
figurative idea if her doing it.
• The speaker (possibly a teenage girl) writes letters to the man in the
moon.
• She writes pages and pages putting down her thoughts and feelings
on the paper.
• She rolls it up, put it in a container and shoots it into the sky, and
when it reaches the moon it explodes into a thousand letters.
• The poem ends with the speaker asking herself and asking the
reader if anyone read her letters?
• She is longing for some sort of acknowledgement and recognition.
