D.P6 Explain why meeting the needs of the individuals requires the involvement of
different agencies.

Partnership work in health and social care brings together different organisations to
benefit from shared expertise, resources, and power. The goal of bringing different
agencies together is to improve the efficiency and quality of service delivery. Partnership
among agencies benefits service users and meets their individual needs by expediting
access to the most appropriate team member and a broader range of services. It provides
more choice and autonomy to service users, as well as respite and support to carers
(therecoveryplace.co.uk). NHS England supports and relies on local healthcare
professionals who make service decisions in collaboration with their patients and
communities. Their teams collaborate with CCGs, GP practises, local governments, and
Health and Wellbeing Boards (england.nhs.uk).

Clinical Commissioning Groups (CCGs):
Clinical commissioning groups (CCGs) were established in the aftermath of the Health and
Social Care Act in 2012. They were clinically led statutory NHS bodies in charge of planning
and commissioning health care services in their respective areas. CCGs were membership
bodies led by an elected governing body made up of GPs, many clinicians including a nurse
and a secondary care consultant, and lay members. They were responsible for
commissioning healthcare such as mental health services, urgent and emergency care,
elective hospital services, and community care, as well as the health of populations ranging
from less than 100,000 to over a million. CCGs meet individual needs by analysing local
needs, setting priorities and strategies, and then purchasing services from providers such
as hospitals, clinics, community health organisations, and so on on behalf of the population.
It is a continuous process. CCGs had to constantly adjust to and adapt to changing local
conditions (nhsconfed.org).

Local authorities:
The UK government creates all local councils in the country. Local governments are
managed by elected councillors to ensure that residents have a role in how services are
delivered. The majority of councillors are unpaid and get a little allowance each year to pay
their expenses. They represent their neighbourhoods, make critical choices concerning
services and council priorities, and serve as community leaders. Individual needs are met
by local governments through universal services, local community groups, informal
networks of support, and other organisations (such as education or health) that they have
funded (islington.gov.uk).
