As a teacher, I have the opportunity to make a positive difference in the life of my learners and help ensure that they have access to quality education. I am motivated by the idea that teaching provides me with an opportunity to mould young minds and shape our society for the better. Teaching is about more than just imparting knowledge; it also about inspiring enthusiasm for learning and instilling values that can last a lifetime. Teaching beliefs I believe a good teacher, first, has a powerful faith in the future. The good teacher knows and understands learners, how they develop and learn. I know that learners actively construct and transform their own knowledge based on past experiences and prior learning. I know that learners do not all learn in the same way or at the same rate. I believe it is my responsibility as a teacher to be an effective practitioner of learners interests, abilities, and prior knowledge. I must then plan learning experiences that will both challenge and allow every learner to think and grow. Being a successful teacher requires one to be willing to nurture every child with love in the classroom and be prepared to go the extra mile to make sure every learner acquires as much quality education as possible. I believe a teacher should be someone that is easy to talk to about anything because most children are dealing with a lot of stress even at home with nobody to offload to and confide in. I believe a good teacher must also understand motivation and the effects of peer interactions on learning. I want all my learners to achieve at high levels, so I avoid sorting them and setting them up to compete with each other. I know most learning happens through social interaction; therefore, I structure learning so that learners productively collaborate and cooperate with each other the vast majority of class time. Practices Teaching as a practice is beneficial for both the teacher and the learners. I believe by practicing teaching, the teacher can understand the needs and interests of each child. The main focus in teaching practice is the learning of students. I have had a great experience in my teaching practice this year. It felt good to implement all that I have learnt into action and seeing each child benefit from it. It made me realise that choosing this career is not a mistake that I might regret later. Teaching practices aim to develop knowledge and skill in the learners. As a practice of teaching, teachers help learners to acquire knowledge, learn new things, build their confidence, and shape their behavior. I not role of a teacher is very important in influencing the learners life. I believe the encouragement of a teacher makes the learner have faith in themselves and their abilities. They will be motivated to put more effort and work harder in whatever they do. A good teacher puts the needs of the learners needs first. In order for a teacher to perform well within her duties she first has to treat every learner in the same way to show inclusivity. They shouldn’t be any discrimination of race, gender, culture or religion in the schooling environment because learners may not come from the same backgrounds but everyone has a right to learning in peace and harmony. Learning process I believe that learning is a continuous process. I believe the most important aspect in a safe and positive learning environment is the rapport between a teacher and his or her learners. When the learners understand that their teacher cares about them and wants them to do well, learners feel comfortable asking questions, making mistakes and taking risks in order to learn something new. To build these kinds of relationships, the teacher should take interest in each learners strengths and interests, as well as their struggles and frustrations. He or she needs to act as a positive model for learning and celebrating achievements. When the learners see that their teacher can learn from his or her mistakes, and laugh even in times when he or she feels frustrated, the learners will feel much more comfortable to do the same. A. I’m glad that I personally did not have any difficulties that were not easily resolved with any of the said assignments and discussions. The assignments were easy enough to understand. I am very happy with my first assignment results, I managed to score a 100 percent. I couldn’t have done it without my telegram group mates. We studied hard and shared notes to help each other in achieving well. In my opinion this module lecturer has been fair in opening the portal early for submission and communicating well with students under announcements. However, my assignment 2 took a slight turn and things didn’t go well at all. I didn't do so good with my assignment 2 due to the mistake I had made when submitting which resulted me being awarded a 0% mark. I sent a reference page instead of a full assignment file. I emailed my lecturer about the situation since I was panicking on how this could have happened. I acknowledged my negligence and promised to do better next time. Although I wasn’t granted a remark but the lecturer encouraged and motivated me to put more effort into the portfolio in order to pass the module since she explained they were not allowed to take assignments via emails. The interaction and feedback from the lecturer put me at ease and gave me direction as to what to do next. As it stands, my assignment 3 has been marked with an 80 percent mark. Overall, I have had a great experience with this module and have I learnt a lot which will contribute significantly towards my career in teaching. These reflections also mean looking at your entire practice as a teacher. This is very important if you are to develop holistically. What I have observed over my years of studying through Unisa is that being an online, distance learner is not child’s play and requires one to have self discipline and be able to manage his/her time well in order to pass. I'm glad I have finally over came my habit of procrastination where I would rather wait for the very last minute before starting an assignment. I remember with the first ISC3701 assignment, although I had prepared and studied for the assignment weeks before but I still attempted the quiz on the last day. I had to put an end to this behaviour before it affected my productivity towards my school work. I have learnt to take my studies more seriously in order to achieve my goals. The ISC3701 module has helped my entire teaching practise become a breeze because I knew how to create a lesson plan which gave a good impression to my mentor that I will be an organised and professional teacher in the near future. Looking at my entire practice as a teacher, I have grown throughout my journey from where I use to be and I am looking forward to my final year.
