Research some of the common problems teachers today
are experiencing in an ESL classroom.
Here are some common classroom management problems ESL
teachers tend to have and solutions to how to deal with them.
1. Kids that won't pay attention
A child not paying attention in class is one of the most challenging
things that a teacher endures. When students don’t pay attention
in class, they miss out on the vital information that will help them
succeed.
Solution:
Exercise: Before each class period, take a few minutes and have
students stand and do light exercise movements such as knee
bends, stretching, or jumping jacks. Spiking student’s heart rate
increases blood flow to the brain which helps students
concentrate on lesson plans and focus on assignments.
Change your teaching method or lesson plan: If they are not
paying attention there is usually a reason why and that is because
something you're doing is not working. It's not necessarily what,
but maybe how you are doing it. Ask them questions about what
you have just said, get them involved, have them participate in an
exercise or activity.
