Assignment B - Lesson Plan Form and Paragraph
• To introduce the first conditional for the function of talking
about events that are likely to happen using ‘if’ and ‘will’.
Lesson Type: Grammar Lesson Aims: • To provide controlled and freer practice of the first conditional
in this function.
• Students will be able to identify and use the correct word order
in first conditional sentences.
• Students will be able to collaborate with peers to create and
present first conditional scenarios in group activities or role
plays.
A2 (Late elementary/ • Students will be able to understand the structure and meaning
pre-intermediate) of first conditional sentences.
Level of Class: Lesson Objectives:
• In the presentation stage the learners will be exposed to the
Teenagers (14-16 years old) correct format of the first conditional and they will elicit and
learn the meaning, form, and pronunciation of the first
conditional.
• The learners will take part of controlled activities (2 activities)
that will improve their accuracy. They will then take part of a
freer practice activity to improve their fluency.
Students would already know present simple, present continuous, past
simple for common verbs, and would be familiar with will for future
Nationality/First events.
Spanish Assumed Knowledge:
Language: They would be familiar with grammatical terminology such as the
names of the tenses they already know, subject, auxiliary verb,
negative form, etc.

, Learners will be familiar with contractions, but likely struggle with
pronunciation.
Learners know different ways to join sentences (Conjunctions or using
a comma)
Learners have prior knowledge about the use of modal verbs (Will).
Learners will have decent understanding of basic communication skills
and the vocabulary surrounding the first conditional.
• Learners will struggle with the contractions used in the first
conditional (Example: I’ll, He’ll, etc.)
To remedy this, the learners will do choral drills using flash cards to
practice the pronunciation.
• A common error is to swap the placement of ‘If’ and ‘Will’.
To remedy this, there will be a gap fill exercise where the learners
practice to fill a first conditional sentence, placing the ‘If’ and ‘Will’
in the right places.
• Since the learners are A2, they may switch to Spanish during
the lesson.
Length of Lesson: 60 mins Anticipated Problems: To keep the learners focused on the target language, the teacher
will walk around and monitor the learners, making sure they
continue to speak in English.
• Since the learners are Spanish, which is “Syllable-timed-
language” the learners may struggle with word stress, and
which words are important resulting in the learners talking very
monotonous and with the same speed.
To remedy this, the learners will do choral exercises, repeating
sentences and where the teacher will say the sentence, stressing
the correct words and syllables and with different rises falls in
tone, the learners will repeat this, copying the teacher to get an
