Assignment B – Teacher Language
This document should not be more than 3 pages long, including this page; approximately 700-1000
words in total.
a) Presentation
You do not need to show the entire presentation but show us some of the language you would use to
elicit the target language from the context you have chosen, elicit the form, and concept check.
i) Eliciting the Target Language from the Context
(Teacher sticks an image of a scenario on the board of a girl thinking of going for a walk, then
considering if it will be warm or cold, and then thinking she will walk if it is warm.)
T: Okay class, let us all take a good look at the picture on the board. What does the girl want to do?
S1(Sam): Go for a walk?
T: Yes, good, she is thinking about going for a walk. What are the two things she thinks could happen?
S2(Ben): It could be cold or warm.
T: Correct. From the flashcards activity earlier, there are two matching sentences to the pictures
(Teacher gestures to the flashcards that are also stuck on the board) what are the two sentences?
S3(Anna): Well, the picture shows heat, so is the sentence ‘It is warm’?
T: Well-done, that is one of the sentences, what other sentence is she thinking of?
S1(Sam): I go for a walk.
T: Good job Sam. If something might happen, what word do we use?
S4(Bob): Maybe?
T: Good guess Bob, any other guesses?
S5(Sarah): If?
T: Well-done Sarah, that is the word that I am looking for! Is it already decided that it will be cold or
warm?
Class: No.
T: Yes exactly, it will never be certain. If it is warm, what will she do?
S6(Bella): Go for a walk.
T: Yes, and if it is cold?
S3(Anna): Not go for a walk.
