Listening and Speaking are the two chosen skills to be taught during this lesson as these are the two weaker skills found amongst all
learners. These skills need to be focused on and improved upon to make them more competent in preparation for, and successfully
completing their IELTS exams. Speaking and listening are two essential skills for effective communication and for learners to thrive in
their day-to-day interactions with other individuals. Seeing that most of the learners either want to get work in another country, or

The chosen topic for this lesson pertains to ‘work’. The reason for this is that, based on learners’ motivations, some want to study in
another country, eventually leading and transitioning over to work life; and some want to improve their job prospects (in a certain career
field). Based on the ages of the learners, they are all adults who can work, and who need to work to create and maintain a certain
standard of living. The topic of ‘work’ will cover necessary and relevant vocabulary and skills for them to succeed in their educational
and working lives, whether it may be for formal discussions or job interviews. By covering this topic and mastering these skills, learners
will sound more professional and will be able to communicate at an international level.
