of basic numbers:

a) Ordinal (4)

Ordinal numbers indicate position or order. Examples include 1st, 2nd, 3rd, etc.
represented by the corresponding numerical symbols (1, 2, 3, etc.).

b) Cardinal (4)

Cardinal numbers indicate quantity or how many. Examples include 1, 2, 3, etc.

c) Nominal (4)

Nominal numbers indicate a name or label for a category or group. Examples include
colors (red, blue, green), shapes (circle, square, triangle), or types of animals (cat,
dog, bird).

1.2. How is fractions linked to decimals and percentages? Use the fraction
“two thirds” to show this relationship. Explain this relationship to a grade 4
learner. (6)

Fractions are a way of expressing a part of a whole. Decimals and percentages are
alternative ways of expressing fractions.

The fraction two thirds can be written as a decimal by dividing the numerator (2) by
the denominator (3): 2 ÷ 3 = 0.666... (repeating).

To convert a decimal to a percentage, multiply by 100: 0.666... x 100 = 66.6...%.

To convert a percentage to a decimal, divide by 100: 66.6...% ÷ 100 = 0.666...
