Although the primary focus in this module is on ethics in the news media — both broadcasting and the press — ethics is a moral component of all human life and as such relevant to all media and communication studies. As a branch of philosophy, it focuses on what is good, acceptable and proper in society, and what is not. This module will assist media workers, and those with a general interest in the media, in determining what is right and it will also help them to choose between alternatives in order to make ethical decisions.
