Fast fashion: how clothes are linked to
climate change
- BBC website
- 29th July 2022: Fast fashion: How clothes are linked to climate change - BBC News

Hello everyone,
im sure youve all heard of the fast fashion industry. but did you know that this industry is
extremely bad for our environment?

fast fashion is the mass production of cheap clothes by companies that quickly hop on the
latest trends.

This industry is extremely bad for our environment and is eventually also responsible for
climate change. To give you an idea of how bad the fast fashion industry is for our
environment:to make just one tshirt, there are needed 100 litres of water!

now we all have an idea of how bad the fast fashion industry has an impact on our
environment, i'm gonna tell you how you can reduce your fashion footprint.

overconsumption is actually the biggest problem.
lots of companies have now made eco-collections, products made of recycled materials, but
some critics say that this is not gonna solve the problem overconsumption

There are now Many "slow fashion" companies emerging, who don't participate in mass
production, so they have a lower environmental impact.

repairing and revamping existing pieces of clothing instead of buying new ones. or hiring
clothes could also be an alternative. In this way, it would save tonnes and tonnes of carbon
dioxide. But the most effective and simplest way would be buying much less: but then there
would be another problem, such as financial consequences for the manufacturers and
retailer.

so this was my presentation of the fast fashion industry and its position in our environment!
