1. Consider the use of intelligence testing and “IQ”, as discussed in the film: What can IQ tests tell us? At the same time, in what ways might the use of intelligence testing limit or potentially mislead us in our understanding of the capabilities of students? 2. Make a connection to the lecture on Social Construction from this past week: In what ways does the film illustrate the idea that disability and intelligence are “socially constructed”? Go back to review the slides or video of the lecture. 3. Naieer’s parents have fears about how he will be perceived by law enforcement. Why do you think they have those fears? What can be done to how Naieer might be perceived in his community? Is there any effort in your community, school, workplace to have open dialogues between families, law enforcement agencies, local government, schools, or other community organizations?
