Student number: 54452562
PTEAC1X: ASSIGNMENT 2
DUE DATE: 31 AUGUST 2022
, Learners observed: Grade 12 learners
Dates: 22/08/2022- 26/08/2022
Period 1: English first additional language
The classroom has enough seating space, and it was clean. It shows that learners are matured
and that they can take care responsibility of cleaning their own classroom. The atmosphere is
conducive to learning and inviting. The teaching approach involved interactive learning.
Learners were cooperative and well behaved, they listened attentively and showed interested
while the narrator was reading for them.
Period 2: Mathematics
The classroom was neat and conducive to learning. The classroom has enough seating space,
which allowed the teacher to move freely in between the desks and observe on how they were
solving the problems that the teacher gave them. Learners were tasked to work in pairs while
solving ten financial mathematical problems given to them. The teacher did a revision of two
examples from the previous lesson on the same topic. The learners participated actively.
However, some learners were shy when asked to solve a problem on the board while other
learners were watching.
Period 3: IsiZulu Home language
The teacher used an interactive teaching approach. Learners were well behaved and met the
teacher’s expectations when they were asked questions, they did not hesitate to raise their
hands to give answers.
Learners were instructed to take out their homework. Almost all the learners participated in
answering questions while doing corrections. From my point of view, the learners were
speaking and interacting with the teacher freely and openly, this may be because they are
speaking their home language.
Period 4: Travel and Tourism
The lesson took place in the travel and tourism classroom. Learners were required to move
from their normal classroom to the travel and tourism classroom. They only brought their
exercise book, pen, pencil, eraser, ruler and textbook. The classroom environment is very
different from the others. The windows are bigger, which allows the sun to enter and the walls
are painted in bright colours. There are posters of world map, pictures of various seven
wonders of the world. Since the number of learners are approximately 25 and the teacher is
friendly and approachable, the learners were able to go to her desk and ask questions.
