To be admitted to the examination, you must submit at least ONE assignment before the due
date. The due dates for the assignments are as follows:

Your semester mark and the examination mark will determine your final mark. The semester
mark is based on the marks awarded for each assignment.

1.1 Introduction
Dear Students
This tutorial letter designated, COS2626/102/3/2021 contains the assignments for Semesters 1
& 2. Please take note of the due dates of the assignments. You must strictly adhere to the due
dates as NO EXTENSION to an assignment will be granted.
Kindly note that Assignments 01-02 must be submitted via the online assessment tool on
myUNISA. You will be informed when the tool is active for submission. Assignments 01-02 are
multiple-choice based assignments and when submitting your assignments via the online
assessment tool, ensure that you have a strong steady Internet connection as the assignment
must be submitted in one sitting. You will not have the option to save the assessment, nor go
back and forth between questions, as the assignment is linear. We will not be able to make
amendments to the marks of the MCQ assignments if there is any problem with the submission.
You have sufficient time to submit the assignments as the official academic year only
commences in April and the first assignment is due in May so please take the necessary time to
complete and submit the assignment successfully.
Assignment 03 is a written assignment that must be submitted via the Assessment Info link.
Please try and submit the assignments as a pdf file. Please note that this a lengthy assignment
so please take your time to complete the assignment and submit it only when you are confident
about the assignment. You may not have the option to resubmit at a later stage as we often
mark assignments as soon as possible and once an assignment is marked; you cannot
resubmit, and the mark cannot be amended.

This Discussions assignment is on Open Educational Resources (OERs). This Discussions
assignment will be setup for by your e-tutors you during the semester. Although this assignment
does not constitute any marks, your participation is essential.
OERs play a key role in promoting education in facilitating access to free learning content on
various subjects and disciplines. OERs promote dissemination of knowledge to a wider
audience who are permitted to use the knowledge free of charge. Task 1 is a discussion
assignment based on OERs and the assignment is structured in three parts as outlined below:
1. PART 1: A Discussion Forum titled “Task 1: Understanding Open Educational
Resources” – This forum will require your participation to introduce the concept of OERs,
the benefits of OERs etc. You will have to find OERs on networking.
2. PART 2: You will have to answer an Online Assessment based on OERs.
3. PART 3: Please participate in a Discussion Forum titled “The Future of Open
Educational Resources (OER)” – Use this forum to give your feedback about what you
think of OERs and the future of this for the field of Computer Networks.
