1.1.1 Environmentalism is a concern or worry for the
environment as well as actions designed to protect it.
1.1.2 Globalization is the process whereby people and their
ideas as well as goods are spread throughout the world so
that there is interaction between all the world’s countries,
cultures, governments and economies. It is the growth
and expansion of everything throughout the world.
1.1.3 Pollution is when we put something that is dirty, toxic or
harmful into the environment which changes its natural
configuration and state.
1.1.4 An ecosystem is all living things in an area interacting with
each other as well as with non-living elements of their
environment.
1.1.5 Non-biodegradable is when a substance or chemical
cannot naturally be changed back into a harmless state
and is therefore damaging to the environment.

, 1.2 Globalization has meant that people have been able to
access technology quicker and it has also improved
communication and innovation. For example we can now
communicate with people anywhere in the world and we
have access to more information and beneficial products
such as medicine.
1.3 The ecological cycle is how the earth’s natural resources
recycle themselves through a self-regulating process, for
example, the water cycle. Globalization has a big impact
on the ecological cycle as it causes widespread pollution
due to carbon emissions from the increased transportation
of goods, the increased use of plastic which has polluted
soil and water and deforestation where land has been
used for buildings and the laying down of roads and other
infrastructure. All of this increased stress on the
environment has meant that the ecological cycle has been
negatively impacted.
1.4 A food chain follows one path of an organism eating
another and then being eaten by another. A food web
follows the many different paths in which different
