In modern life, social media is developing fast. It is used by many people all over the
world. In EXTRACT A, the poet expresses the effects of engaging social media in a
sad and serious tone and used a present and future tense to express the effects a
current and future matter, as he writes “For we shall stare at mobile phones.” It is
believed that engaging in social has both negative and positive effects on human
and their social wellbeing.
On the positive side of social media engagement, we have Social networking sites
that allow people to communicate and remain in contact with friends as well as meet
new people. These sites allow people to find others with similar interests that they
can create a relationship with and get to know one another. Groups can be joined or
formed to meet people with similar interests, and views. Social networking allows for
creative expression by using tools such as blogging and messaging to post ideas
and stories. Not only is it used to talk to friends, but it is also used to discuss
educational topics. Social networking is said to increase a person’s quality of life,
and can reduce health risks. Many people report that they have not had any negative
experiences with social networking, and schools are starting to look at it as an
educational tool.
The internet has a greater impact on people today than ever before. It has been a
continual source of news, entertainment, and education for users around the world.
However, the most innovative of its technologies, social media, did not achieve
