These are lines drawn on maps to show the height of land above se
level
Looking at the photo alongside we see the hill at the top and then
we see how it looks on a map with its contour lines underneath
Contour lines join all the places that are the same height above sea
level, which is 0 m
This is written simply in metres
Contour lines are either higher or lower than the one next to it
The height difference between two contour lines is called the contour
interval
This difference is 20 m between each contour
These are brown in colour
