1. This is a children’s book that can be taught to Grade R learners. It is an illustrated text
that teaches children about seeds. The book teaches children about the origin of seeds
and what flowers can form from those seeds and it ignites the love for seeds. The
author/illustrator team make us realize that seeds are beautiful, fascinating and utterly
worthy of our attention and appreciation. In the beginning, a seed is sleepy (and
secretive), lying untouched and still, but soon it is fruitful and adventurous - spreading
out and growing. The front inside cover pages show many, many seeds ranging from
the very small to the big--then the back inside cover pages show the plants that sprout
from the seeds. Between those pages is a glorious exploration of many different types
of seeds that float on air or water, seeds that are tiny as a freckle, seeds that can need
the sun and those that do not , seeds that take but days to begin to grow, seeds that
