as one pursues personal interests and exercise our capabilities.

Maslow’s Hierarchy of Needs
Abraham Maslow's hierarchy of needs is one of the best-known theories of motivation.

lower-level needs—for survival, then safety, followed by belonging, and then self-
esteem—deficiency needs. When these needs are satisfied, the motivation for fulfilling
them decreases.
