, Assignment 2
This assignment is based on Units 3 and 4 of your TUT501. The aim of the assignment is to
test your skill of interacting with texts of any form. Because texts differ in terms of their
register, tone, voice and mode, it is not only important, but also fascinating to understand
the differences. Different texts/genres are identifiable using the form they take. TEXT A and
TEXT B for example are different, TEXT A is a pamphlet or travel poster for advertising a
tourist destination, TEXT B is a note on what plagiarism is and the consequences
associated with this kind of academic behaviour. We are able to name these genres (a
poster and note) because we know the features of these type of genres.
Your task is to:
Study TEXT A and TEXT B closely and answer the questions that follow.
