Using the Guide to Machinery Cost to calculate machinery activity cost.
This document serves to illustrate examples of how to calculate different activity costs.
Tractors and Combines Power is given in Kilowatt (kW). The conversion to Horse Power (HP) is as follows:
1 Horse Power = 0.745699872 kW (1 kW = 1.34048 HP)
The Guide only provides cost for the machinery activity itself. If you wish to include cost for the machine operator,
120% of machine hours is a good rule of thumb.
The cost of five different machinery activities are illustrated below:
1 Field Work: Tractor And Implement
2 Field Work: Combine Harvester
3 Transport: Tractor And Trailers
4 Transport: Ldv/Bakkies
5 Transport: Trucks And Trailers
