My possibilities for volunteering.
I would like to start a project more similar to Keneilwe's; A non-profit organization(NPO) that deals
with donating both old and new clothes to the unfortunate, especially orphans and the homeless. I
find it fit enough for me to donate clothes since am a fashion lover and a fashion brand owner. I am
more than willing to give away my brand's rejected clothes and some of my close friends, family and
my own old clothes to the needy. I would also like to donate toiletries and sanitary pads to teenage
girls. As well as offer life coaching, career guidance and raising funds for their educational tours,
physical activities and talent endeavours. I am aiming to start with child welfares around my
township because those are the kids that need the most help and support since they do not have
stable homes and parents. I would name the project Vivid Vision because the goal is to help young
unpriviledged black kids to realize their value and unlock their full potentials.
I have identified about eight resources that I would need run my project. The first resource would be
time. I find it imperitive to invest enough time for a project like this one to get off the ground
because the more time spent on something the greater experience is gained. More experience
covers the second resource needed which is accessible information. With the right information one
can be able to take wise decisions in terms of who to approach and how to execute. The third
resource is funds. Enough money is needed to purchase some of the items to be donated and the
required equipment. Initiatives like fundraising and asking for donations at different institutes,
organizations and businesses could lift off the heavy financial burden.
The fourth resource is passion. Without passion, when the going gets tough I will easily give up but if
I have passion in helping the community i will bring about positive change regardless of the
circumstances. The fifth resource is emotional support. Volunteerism takes a tall in ones’ life more
than a regular job with a fixed salary. It is best to get a mentor who can guide and make me
understand certain challenges within the volunteering industry. The sixth resource is networking.
Linking up with fellow volunteers, successful organisations and potential donors/investors will do me
good because it will be easier for me to reach out for help and good advices. The last but not least
resource is a team of dedicated members. One can never handle such a big responsibility alone.
More passionate and dedicated people will bring more positive change in the organization and the
community as well.
