First Activity
a) A dictionary activity, for vocabulary and dictionary skills development AFTER the class have
read or listened to your selected text.
This could be used later in the same lesson or in another lesson. You can use the vocabulary items
you have selected for pre-teaching or make a different selection. The vocabulary must be from the
text or clearly relevant to the text.
Name of Activity Fun Dictionary Activity
Time 15-20 minutes
To find the given words in the dictionary and to understand the meaning,
Aims form, and pronunciation.
Hand out dictionaries and worksheets (for this activity).
Tell students to read the instructions on the worksheet carefully.
Tell the students that they should only ask you (the teacher) for
help.
Teacher’s Instructions Walk around the class and offer help to those that seem to be
struggling.
Once the time limit has elapsed, give the students feedback
regarding the activity.
Run through the worksheet and provide the correct answers.
