university experience against your experience at high school. Discuss three categories of
your choice from the list.
Introduction
Both university and high school are educational institutions, and yet they provide different
experiences to their students. This essay will compare my university experience with my
high school experience. Firstly, I will compare and contrast the financial factors I have
experienced in both university and high school. Secondly, I will compare and contrast
educational factors I have experienced in both instances. Finally, I will comment on
psychological factors I have encountered in university and high school.
Body
Firstly, both university and high school require funding, but university is quite different
from high school. In university, tuition costs rise at alarming high rate, add costs of meals,
supplies, transportation and textbooks. Unlike high school, textbooks are free, meals are
provided, and tuition is free. On the other hand, high schools get funding from the
government, each year there are funds allocated them to provide quality education.
Though university is expensive, there are student loans, bursaries, and scholarships made
available for students who lack financial means. For instance, National Student Financial
Aid Scheme (NSFAS). Although it does not apply to every student in university, to give
illustration of what I mean let us look at the rate of students who dropout of university
per year, the number of students who cannot get their qualifications because of
outstanding fees. Furthermore, several studies report that between 9% and 40% feel that
financial stress has negatively affected their academic performance.
Second, one similarity between university and college is that both are academically
challenging they require effort and dedication. In university, classes particularly lectures
can be quite large as it consists of about students, you may need to arrange to speak with
your lecture outside of class while in high school classes are limited and can afford more
personal time with your teacher. In addition, preparing, managing and prioritising your
work and getting things on time is your responsibility, lectures will not prompt you. On the
other hand, teachers in high school, organise students work and prioritise their time.
Moreover, university both administrative and teaching cannot talk to your parents about
