This assessment focuses on planning a Public Relations campaign for SPAR's Supplier
Development Programme using the FOUR-STEP formula. The FOUR-STEP formula is
a problem-solving process that includes defining the problem, planning and
programming, taking action and communicating, and evaluating the programme (Study
Guide, Learning Unit 2, p.28; Learning Units, p.31).
SPAR's Supplier Development Programme has helped businesses like Simply Deli grow
from small kitchen operations to nationwide suppliers. The programme assists
entrepreneurs with food safety compliance, certification, product development,
packaging, and labelling, while providing access to SPAR's retail network
(BizCommunity, 2026). However, awareness among potential beneficiaries remains low.
In this assessment, I will define key concepts related to public relations, then analyse a
draft PR programme containing errors, identify which step of the FOUR-STEP formula
each section belongs to, explain my reasoning, and develop corrected versions.
