UNIT 1 EXPLORING BUSINESS
TASK 1
Part 1 & 2
p.1
Introduction
In this article, I will make comparison between 2 corporations, one private business, and
one non-profitable business, this is recognized as a charity. In my report, I will look at 2
corporations and studying their characteristics and evaluate things that makes them
successful via my independent study. In my report I shall study and contrast the 2
enterprises, including details regarding ownership and responsibility, function, industry,
scale and scale of operations, organisational structure, mandate, vision and values, goals
and priorities, and interactions with domestic and foreign stakeholders and potential
explanations for their performance. I shall also discuss and contrast the aspects of the two
companies. Tesco and The Manchester College are the two companies I will be using for this
assignment.
Location
Local business: A local business is one that offers their goods and services to customers in
its own city, town, or terrestrial area. An example of a local business could be The
Manchester College, and this is because they give services only to students who are in
Manchester, all of their campuses are located in Manchester only, The Manchester College
has 10 different campuses, 4 located in the central Manchester, which are called Nicholls
campus, Shena Simons campus, St John’s Centre & Centre of Excellence for Medical
Sciences., 3 of the campuses are located in the North & East Manchester which are known
as Openshaw campus, Harpurhey campus, The Manchester School of Building., the rest of
the 3 campuses are located in the South Manchester which are known as Northenden
campus, Fielden campus & Wythenshawe campus.
National business: A national enterprise is one that works inside the boundaries of a specific
country. Like a neighbourhood business, a national enterprise comprehends the way of life
of the country and creates items and administrations to fulfil its market. For instance,
Doughnut Time is a donut shop that works all through Australia. It has made doughnuts that
appeal to its market and incorporates Nutella and veggie lover assortments. Since the
organization started in Australia, its proprietors understand what the market is searching
for, and they give items that will sell well.
International business: International business refers to the exchange of products,
administrations, innovation, capital and additionally information across public fringes and at
a worldwide or transnational scale. It includes cross-fringe exchanges of products and
enterprises between at least two nations. Exchanges of monetary assets incorporate capital,
aptitudes, and individuals with the end goal of the worldwide creation of physical products

, and enterprises, for example, fund, banking, protection, and development. For instance
Apple, an organization that produces buyer gadgets, for example, laptops, tablets, mobile
phones, and so forth Apple sells its items around the globe, however the base camp and all
item advancement are situated inside the U.S.
Global business: A global business or multinational is a business that works in the majority
of the countries all around the globe. Although the business might have its head office and
major operations centre in one country, its goods and services are utilized all over the
world. An example of global business is Tesco, this is because currently Tesco operates in 13
different countries and in those countries Tesco operates as Tesco UK, Tesco Lotus, Tesco
India, Tesco Malaysia, Tesco Hungary, Tesco Czech Republic, Tesco Ireland, Tesco Poland,
Tesco Slovakia, Tesco China, Tesco Bank, Dunnhumby.

Business sector
Private sector:
- The private sector is the portion of the economy owned by citizens and corporations
for profit and not governed by the State. It also includes all non-government-owned
and run profit-making corporations. The privately owned, regulated and run by
private individuals and corporations is the national economy section. The private
sector’s objective is to make profits to hire more employees than the public sector.
By establishing a new corporation or privatising a public sector entity, a private
sector organisation is created.
- A big private sector business can be traded in private or in public. Private sector
businesses lower demand on products and services while vying for the dollars of
consumers; in principle, because people can purchase the same commodity
elsewhere, customers do not choose to spend more.
- In most open markets, in contrast to countries with more influence of their
economies by government and a wider public sector, the private sector is a
significant part of the economy. For instance, the U.S. has a powerful private sector
because it has an open market and China, where all of the companies are regulated
by the state, has a broader public sector.
Not for profit sector: Non for profit businesses are a kind of company that doesn't make the
owners profit. Any money raised or contributed to a non-profit corporation is used to
achieve and maintain the organisation's goals. In the non-profit industry companies are
typically tax-exempt or various forms of civil benefit agencies, which means that the bulk of
taxes are not payable as a result. Earnings are not assigned to group executives, managers
or officials of a non-profit organisation. There are also so-called non-profit organisations.
Public sector: The public sector is the sector providing a variety of public utilities including
housing, transport, public education, medical services, police and military. The public sector
vars between states, but usually focuses on resources that will support the whole
population rather than just those that use it. The public sector differs according to the rules
