What is the function ?
- to regulate volume / composition of body fluids , removing harmful waste products from
body
- Expelling waste & excess water form today in form of urine
Kidneys - excrete urine
Lungs - excretes carbon Dioxide & water vapor
Skin - excretes sweat [ water mineral salts & urea ]
Liver - detoxifies poisons substances from the blood [ alcohol] , produces urea during the
process of deamination .
- waste products are then pumped into , kidneys filter wastes from blood .
The Kidney :
- remove harmful substances with your cells produce - mainly urea & excess salts from your
blood . Dissolved in water - urine
amino acids in blood from digestion
From proteins in your cell : urea in your blood :
- some amino acids are used - some amino acids are not used
By the cells for growth & repair , they are broken down into urea
In the liver
External structure of the kidney
- reddish , brown , bean shape organs
- 10cm long , 6 com wide , 4cm thick
- Lumber region of body
- Right = lower than left [ because of liver ]
- Adrenal gland is found - on top of each kidney
