1.1. To fulfil this proviso, education can be defined as the planned teaching activities by the teacher to support
the individual learners to acquire the mutually agreed-upon competencies (knowledge, skills and
attitudes/values) in order to perform their different roles in life. ducation nowadays has become
prominent thing as it involves most people to take part in this matter. In addition, it cannot be separated
from human’s life. Both males and females need to be educated. Education plays an important role in the
development of a country.
1.2. Sociology of education: The sociology of education is the study of how public institutions and individual
experiences affect education and its outcomes. It is mostly concerned with the public schooling systems of
modern industrial societies, including the expansion of higher, further, adult, and continuing education.
1.3. a) Macrosociological: It is a large-scale approach to sociology, emphasizing the analysis of social systems
and populations at the structural level, often at a necessarily high level of theoretical abstraction.
b) Microsociological: Small-scale sociological analysis that studies the behavior of people in face-to-face
social interactions and small groups to understand what they do, say, and think.
1.4. The most important result expected from teaching is the comprehension of the provided information.
Education and teaching are two complementary processes. In this process, teaching constitutes the head
while education builds spirit and character. Teaching gives knowledge and education provides the values.
However, it is understood that teaching will take place in education when knowledge is thought as a value
among values and head as a part of spirit. In general, teaching is considered as the part of education which
is planned and programmed. Teaching includes the whole of the interaction between the instructor and
learners. In other words, education is the result of teaching and learning activities.
