1.1 Write the expressions, in simplified form, for the following.


1.1.1 Total printing cost, C(n) (1)


The printing shop charges a fixed setup fee of R30 and an additional R6 for every pack

that is printed. The total printing cost is therefore made up of the fixed cost plus the

variable cost that depends on the number of packs.


C(n) = 6n + 30




1.1.2 Total income, I(n) (1)


The mathematics club sells each pack for R10. Since the income depends only on the

number of packs sold, the total income is found by multiplying the selling price by the

number of packs.


I(n) = 10n




1.1.3 Profit, P(n) (1)


Profit is calculated by subtracting the total printing cost from the total income earned

from selling the packs.
