Assignment B - PPP Grammar Lesson Table: First Conditional

ü NB: Look at the model provided and make sure you understand what MFP refer to here. See Units 2 and 7. For example, in number 4 in the
table below, we do NOT mean 'What is the function of the lesson'!!!

1. What is the target form of the first conditional First conditional form (both clauses):
(both clauses)? (F)
Affirmative form: If + present simple, will + infinitive.

E.g., If it is sunny, I will go swimming.

2. What is the model sentence you will elicit to I will begin by eliciting a question (based on one of the students' examples in warmer), e.g.,
begin your presentation? 'If it is sunny, will you go swimming?', and then from that elicit the affirmative: 'If it is sunny, I
will go swimming,' which I will use as a model.

3. What are the negative and question
Model sentence in negative form: If it is not sunny, I won’t go swimming.
(interrogative) forms of your model sentence?
Form: If + not + present simple, will + not + infinitive
(You might find there is more than one possibility,
Model sentence in question form: If it is sunny, will you go swimming?
but you only need to show one negative and one
Form: If + present simple, will + infinitive?
question, then analyse the forms.)

4. What is the function? (M) Talking about events that are likely to occur in the future.
