TAM2601
ASSIGNMENT 2 2026

UNIQUE NO.
DUE DATE: 30 JUNE 2026

, QUESTION 1

The effectiveness of classroom management depends largely on a teacher's ability to
combine various management functions into a unified system that promotes both
discipline and learning. Planning, organising, leading, monitoring, and coordinating are
interconnected processes that enable teachers to establish and maintain an
environment where learners can achieve their full potential. When applied effectively,
these functions contribute to a classroom atmosphere characterised by structure,
engagement, accountability, and positive relationships (Kayyali, 2025).

Planning serves as the foundation of classroom management because it guides all
instructional and behavioural expectations. Before entering the classroom, I would
identify learning outcomes, prepare teaching materials, design assessment activities,
and establish classroom procedures. Effective planning allows teachers to anticipate
potential challenges and develop strategies to address diverse learner needs.
According to Kayyali (2025), clearly defined expectations and purposeful lesson
preparation contribute significantly to maintaining a positive learning environment.
Through careful planning, learners are provided with direction and consistency, which
minimises uncertainty and behavioural disruptions.

Once plans have been developed, organising becomes essential for translating those
plans into practice. Organising involves arranging resources, learning activities,
classroom layouts, and time schedules in ways that maximise learner participation and
minimise distractions. A well-organised classroom enables smooth transitions between
activities and ensures that instructional time is used efficiently. Van Deventer and
Kruger (2018) argue that effective organisation creates a structured learning
environment where learners can focus on academic tasks without unnecessary
interruptions. In my classroom, organisation would include establishing routines,
managing learning materials effectively, and creating seating arrangements that support
collaboration and engagement.
