1.4 Gegevensverwerking
> Informatica: De leer van methoden en technieken voor het ontwikkelen, opzetten en gebruiken van
informatiesystemen.
> Informatiesysteem: Is een systeem d.w.z. een geheel van samenwerkende componenten, dat gegevens
verwerkt tot bruikbare informatie

1.4.1 Gegevens versus informatie
Gegevens / Data=
− Verzameling ruwe feiten m.b.t. personen, dingen, processen
− Georganiseerde codes
− Gestructureerd of ongestructureerd
− Vormen: numeriek (cijfers) – alfanumeriek (cijfers, letters en symbolen) – grafisch (tekeningen)
− Eigenschappen voor kwaliteit: accuraatheid, volledigheid, relevantie, tijdigheid (niet verouderd) en
verifieerbaarheid (controlemechanisme) [Gegevens leiden tot informatie, geldt dus ook daarvoor].
Gegevensbronnen =
− Binnen of buiten de onderneming gegenereerd
− Bijv. Klantenorders, facturen

Gegevens worden verwerkt tot informatie
Informatie = Overdraagbare kennis (concrete betekenis aan gegevens)
-> Dit lukt niet zonder een context waarbinnen die betekenis kan worden gecommuniceerd.

Data -> Informatie (als productiefactor) -> kennis
= ruwe grondstof -> afgewerkt product -> verbruikt product


1.4.2 Het gegevensverwerking proces
Informatie ontstaat door een gegevensverwerkend proces:
- Invoer/input: ruwe gegevens
Invoerfase: verzameling gegevens -> verificatie -> invoer gegevens
- Verwerking/processing:
Verwerkingsfase: gegevens geclassificeerd of gesorteerd -> bewerkingen
- Opslag/storage: Bewaren en beschermen, kan in elk stadium van proces. (back-up)
- Uitvoer/output
Uitvoerfase: omzetten van verwerkte gegevens in een leesbare vorm (bijv. Grafisch)

Het samen plaatsen van informatie kan extra kennis of additionele inzichten opleveren.
-> zoekactviteiten: gegevens veredelen tot informatie en relevante informatie samenbrengen. (XML en
databases)
