1 a) I’m a very young modern teacher so technology, media and myself are like
finger and nail. There’s so much content to cover on Mathematics lesson so what
I would do is use my laptop and projector to show them similar work online
regarding the topic and then send all relevant information and notes to the class
WhatsApp group for if there’s any learners who could not finish in time during
school hours. I can also shoot lesson videos and post them on my classes
YouTube channel.
b) Media is the one thing that learners understand more than any other thing so
for me it does not really matter that we use media in tests or not but to
familiarize learners with it because media is everywhere and what better place to
use it than in school? We must familiarize our learners with such things for when
push comes to shove like during pandemics so that it’s not a struggle when
online learning is introduced. Media is amazing even if it’s not used in tests it can
certainly be used during lessons and that’s more than enough.
c) Not using media for learners who understand would be biased. There’s, no
such thing as to much understanding. So if they do understand they’ll understand
more in my class. Using media for those that understand would be a bonus
because it would aid in improving their understanding of Mathematics and its
skills a whole and the ones that don’t really understand would get help from
those that do understand.
d) Well, I disagree. I think the use of media should is for all phases because just as
children grow, media grows too and when a learner is familiar with media from
the foundation phase, it will just be free flowing in the intermediate phase. So
what I’m basically saying is that let media be taught in the foundation phase as
foundation for the intermediate so that everything is free flowing in the
intermediate.
