Dear Student

Welcome to the Teaching Practice TPF2602 module. We hope you find this module interesting and that
it enriches your teaching career. You must complete this examination portfolio (Portfolio 50). This
examination portfolio must be completed during the five consecutive weeks of compulsory face-to-face
teaching practice.

Please use the learning management system provided by the University to access the support that is
in place to ensure that you succeed in your studies. During this year, you will be supported through:

 Study material, including all assessments, will be posted on the myModules Platform.

 Discussion Forums where you can post questions for your lecturer to assist you with any
challenges you face in the module. Make sure you visit the Moodle platform every three days.
 TEAMS meetings, where you will be expected to book slots on a scheduler on the Moodle
platform.

 Video links, voice messages or Voice over PowerPoint

 Any other communication on the Announcements tool must be read regularly, including your
e-mails, where we will also post messages.

We hope you will take advantage of the support provided throughout the year and not leave everything
for just before the closing date or the end of the year.

Please read this tutorial letter and retain all the other tutorial letters you will receive. You must read
through all the tutorial letters you receive during the year immediately and carefully, as they always
contain essential and sometimes urgent information. These are our ways of communicating with you
about teaching, learning, and assessment.

Assessment 50 contains essential information about the assessments for this module. We urge you to
read through it carefully and keep it at hand when working through the study material, preparing the
assessments, and addressing questions to your lecturers.

We have also included certain general and administrative information about this module. Please study
this section of the tutorial letter carefully. It contains the required activities you need to complete with
your mentor at the school where you have been placed by the Teaching Practice Office (TPO).

Ensure you contact the TPO Office via the coordinator allocated to this module well in advance to
confirm your placement before you go to the school to complete the teaching practice. All placement
communication must be communicated via your Mylife email address.

We are aware that problems may occasionally disrupt your studies. Please contact your lecturer via
email or telephone to discuss these.

Best wishes and enjoy your teaching experience!

3. ASSESSMENT 50 - PORTFOLIO

3.1. Introduction

The lesson template below is meant to guide you in completing your lessons. Please study the
guidelines for each section and use the information when preparing your lessons in
consultation with your mentor teacher.

3.2. Additional resources

The theory for this assessment will appear in several theoretical modules and be posted on
myUnisa under Additional Resources. Along with your theoretical modules, you must
consult CAPS or any other curriculum the school follows, such as a private school that
uses the ISASA curriculum or the country of residence. The annual teaching plans
(ATPs), term plans, and weekly plans must also be obtained from the school you attend
for the teaching practice. International students must align their country's curriculum
policy with the provided lesson template.

You might have:
 Come from another university where you completed a similar module.
 Been phased into the new BEd programme and are not registered for the theoretical
modules.
 Lost or misplaced the learning guides

You will find the learning guides for CDE2601, MFP1501, CHL2601, ENC1501, LSP1501
and LSK2601 uploaded on myUnisa under Additional Resources on the TPF2602 portal.
Use the guides to support your teaching practice requirements. You must READ these
materials. Even when you write a grade R weekly planner, use the approaches and
learnings from the theory modules.

3.3. Announcements made on myUnisa.

Read the announcements on myUnisa for the following reasons:
 Should there be a change in lecturers, we will place information about the change on
myUnisa.
 All your Unisa-based communication, according to the Protection of Personal
Information (POPI) (security) Act, occurs via myUnisa and your Mylife e-mail, the
University's official communication platform.
 We will not answer any e-mails from registered students' private e-mail accounts,
from parents, brothers, sisters, aunts or uncles, or other persons.

 We don’t release individual assessment marks to obtain the result of the teaching
practice examination module. Instead, the DSAA releases the final mark for the teaching
practice module at the end of the year.
 You must pass the module in the year you register for it.
 The system does not check if the assessment that you load is correct. Only once
marking has commenced do markers mark content; if incorrect, you will not pass. You
aren’t notified that it is incorrect, as it is a final examination portfolio. What you load is
marked.

The rules of the University do not provide module rollover for the following year. You
must complete the module before the due date in the year of registration. You will only
receive your final portfolio mark in December, as it is an examination portfolio. We do
