, Question 2
1. Accountability means to be responsible for the decisions you make as a teacher,
and the way you take care of the learners. It involves being answerable to all
parties involved in the school or institution. It is the obligation of the teacher or
principle to explain their activities, accept responsibility for them, and to disclose
the results in a clear manner. Accountability also involves following the rules and
regulations that a teacher is required to follow, instead of them doing their own
thing.
2. A culture of professionalism refers to the manner in which teachers develop
their activities for school. The professional culture of teachers includes the
values, beliefs and habits that educators have within them. In other words,
teacher professionality is the standard of understanding, skills, way of thinking
and values that a teacher must entail. While I believe that teachers should follow
the rules and carry themselves out professionally. I also believe that the teachers
need to be able to express themselves, as too many rules can be strenuous.
3. OBE can easily be distinguished from the traditional educational methods by the
way it includes the theory of education, a particular approach to instructional
practices and a systematic structure for education. The O in OBE stands for
outcome which is the most important concept as it can sometimes change into
competency, standards and attainment of targets. OBE focuses on life,
intellectual, basic, professional and vocational as well as interpersonal and
personal skills.
4. Caps focuses on what we teach instead of how we teach, while OBE focuses on
how we teach rather than what we teach. OBE was a learner centred approach
that was made to establish self-directed learning, while CAPs was more of an
active learner participation form of learning. CAPs illustrated what teachers
need to cover in the classroom, how they should plan lessons and how they need
to strictly follow the curriculum given to them. While OBE was adamant on
creating a teaching profession whereby the learners needs comes first.
