, QUESTION 1
1.1.1 Using gaming technology
Gaming technology can make learning more active and meaningful in Social
Sciences. Learners engage with historical events and geographical concepts through
simulations and problem solving tasks. This supports deeper understanding and
improves motivation. It also allows learners to practise decision making and critical
thinking. There is a risk that learners may focus more on entertainment than learning
if the activity is not guided properly. Teachers must plan carefully and align games
with learning outcomes (TMN3706 Study Guide, 2020; Wassermann, 2017).
1.1.2 Using digital portfolios
Digital portfolios allow learners to collect and organise their work over time. This
helps learners to reflect on their progress and take responsibility for their learning. It
also supports continuous assessment and gives teachers a clear view of learner
development. However, access to devices and digital skills can affect how well
learners use portfolios. Teachers must support learners and ensure fairness
(TMN3706 Study Guide, 2020; Mathews et al., 1992).
1.1.3 Using the Internet
The Internet gives learners access to a wide range of information and different
perspectives. This supports inquiry based learning and helps learners develop
research skills. It also allows learners to explore real world issues in Social Sciences.
There are challenges such as unreliable sources and information overload. Teachers
must guide learners on how to select accurate and relevant information
(Wassermann, 2017; TMN3706 Study Guide, 2020).
1.1.4 Using email, blogs, and wikis
These tools support communication and collaboration among learners. Learners can
share ideas, work together, and build knowledge collectively. This supports a learner
centred approach and develops writing and discussion skills. It also allows feedback
from peers and teachers. Challenges include misuse and lack of participation by
