1.1. The simple present

 Gebruik:
Om te zeggen dat iets een gewoonte of een feit/waarheid is of iets dat regelmatig
gebeurt. Maar ook voor een permanente situatie word het gebruikt.
Word vooral gebruikt met beloftes en verontschuldigingen.

Het gaat over een permanente feit, toekomstig in de planning, herhalede actie en
algemene waarheid.

 Always, often, usually, sometimes, (ne)ever, every, once/ twice a..

 Vorm:
Werkwoord. Aan de 3e persoon enkelvoud (he/she/it) wordt een -s toegevoegd.

 Voorbeelden:
‐ I work Ik werk
‐ You work Jij/u werkt
‐ He/She/It works Hij/Zij/Het werkt
‐ We work Wij werken
‐ You work Jullie/u werken
‐ They work Zij werken
‐ Do we work? Werken wij?




 Negatieve vorm
Je gebruikt do not/ don’t

 Voorbeelden:

- The neigbours don’t take any notice
- The journey doesn’t take long

 Vragende vorm
We gebruiken “do” en de basis vorm
